The Metal Shark 55 Endurance is a welded aluminum pilothouse catamaran specially designed for law enforcement, port security, pilot, dive support, fire rescue response, or other applications where offshore capability, extended range, and crew capacity may be key considerations. Like all Metal Sharks, each Endurance vessel may be fully customized to meet virtually any mission requirement. Available in a wide range of models ranging from 45′ to 105′, our Endurance-class catamarans serve as extremely stable, dependable, and efficient platforms.

Hull Design

Each Metal Shark Endurance-class catamaran features a proven Metal Shark hull design that has been engineered and built to precise tolerances. To achieve its superior hull life rating of 30+ years, the vessel’s hull, deck, and pilothouse structure are composed entirely of heavy, welded plates of premium-grade 5086 aluminum alloy. The 55 Endurance features a beam of 20′ which results in tremendous stability while at rest or underway. Endurance vessels may be equipped with straight-shaft inboards, water jets, or pod propulsion systems.

Deck Layout

At the heart of the 55 Endurance’s crew-friendly design is its spacious, clutter-free deck arrangement that offers massive wide-open work spaces and allows for easy, surefooted passage from bow to stern. Wide, non-skid walkways feature low-level LED lighting for night missions, and careful consideration has been given to the placement of all rails and grab handles. Port and starboard dive recesses and the full-width swim platform provide easy access to and from the water. Heavy duty rubber rub rail provides impact protection. The vessel may be fitted with a urethane-sheathed foam-filled collar for full fendering capability.

Pilothouse Details

The most immediately apparent advancement in the pilothouse arrangement of Metal Shark’s Endurance-class vessels is the use of pillarless glass to substantially enhance visibility. As proven in our Defiant-class vessels with similar features, the result of our design is a near elimination of the dangerous blind spots which are an unfortunate drawback of conventional pilothouse vessels. Large spotter windows allow the crew to see overhead aircraft. Further, the Endurance’s quickly opening side and aft pilothouse windows offer added flexibility and greatly facilitate communication when docking or maneuvering alongside another vessel. The cabin space is fully configurable for any mission profile, with multiple options for crew seating, dining and lounge areas. Other options include shock mitigating captain’s chairs, settee and dinette, galley and chart tables/desk areas.

Fully Custom Platform

Like all Metal Sharks, each Endurance-class catamaran may be full customized to suit a wide array of mission requirements. The Endurance catamarans, such as the 75′ Endurance shown here, serve as ideal platforms for fire rescue missions, with fire pump package and multiple RF-controlled monitors. Metal Shark is well versed in the proper outfitting of vessels with electronics, fire fighting equipment, positive-pressure CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosive) filtration systems, or any other mission-specific hardware. Also shown, a 75 Endurance custom-outfitted for dive support missions. In any configuration, a Metal Shark Endurance-class catamaran is a highly versatile and capable platform.
